Selecting a species also surfaces species-specific contraindications (e.g. oral beta-lactams in rabbits, ivermectin in tortoises).
The interaction database is hand-curated and reviewed against published veterinary pharmacology references. It is not exhaustive — a clean check is not proof of safety. Always cross-check with current literature for any unfamiliar combination, and use the error report form if you spot a missing interaction.
Severity legend: CONTRAINDICATED — do not combine. MAJOR — avoid where clinically possible; monitor closely if combined. MODERATE — combination is acceptable with appropriate monitoring. MINOR — clinical impact is generally manageable.
