Dosage Disclaimer

Last updated: July 30, 2026

Important Notice

This tool provides dosage references compiled from published veterinary literature. It is not a substitute for professional veterinary judgment. Always verify dosages against current references and consider individual patient factors. ExoticRx assumes no liability for clinical outcomes.

Not a Medical Device

ExoticRx is not classified, registered, or intended as a medical or veterinary device under any jurisdiction. It is an informational reference tool only.

Scope: Calculators, Interaction Checker & Tools

Beyond the weight-based dose calculator, ExoticRx offers a drug-interaction checker, a constant-rate-infusion (CRI) calculator, a fluid-therapy planner, an emergency-drug dose sheet, and unit/concentration converters. Every one of these is a reference aid only: its output is a computed suggestion from published data and formulae, not a prescription. The drug-interaction checker surfaces known interaction classes and is not exhaustive — the absence of a warning does not guarantee a combination is safe. Independently verify every calculated dose, rate, volume, and interaction against current references and the individual patient before use.

Directory Listings Are Not Endorsements

Practice listings in the exotic-vet directory are provided for discovery only and do not constitute an endorsement, certification, or verification of any practice by ExoticRx unless a listing is explicitly marked as verified.

Evidence Levels

Every dosage rule in ExoticRx is tagged with an evidence level:

Source Citations

Every dosage rule includes a source citation from published references including Carpenter's Exotic Animal Formulary, Plumb's Veterinary Drug Handbook, and peer-reviewed veterinary journals. Users should verify citations against the original source material.

Report an Error

If you identify an error in our dosage data, please report it immediately at submit a correction. Include the drug name, species, and the specific concern. Every dosage result includes a “Report Error” link for easy reporting.

Clinical Responsibility

The prescribing veterinarian bears full clinical responsibility for drug selection, dosage determination, and patient monitoring. ExoticRx is a reference tool that supplements, but does not replace, professional training and clinical judgment.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Milata LLC (doing business as ExoticRx) and its members, managers, officers, employees, agents, contractors, and licensors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to the use of, or inability to use, this tool. This includes, without limitation, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, data, animal health outcomes, or other intangible losses, even if ExoticRx has been advised of the possibility of such damages. The operative warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability are in the Terms of Service, which incorporate this Disclaimer.

No Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship

Use of ExoticRx does not create a veterinarian-client-patient relationship (VCPR). The information provided is general in nature and is not tailored to any specific animal patient. A valid VCPR with a licensed veterinarian (as required in the US), or your jurisdiction's equivalent professional-relationship requirement, applies before any medication is prescribed or administered.

Data Accuracy

While ExoticRx strives to maintain accurate and up-to-date dosage information, veterinary pharmacology is a rapidly evolving field. Drug dosages, indications, contraindications, and interaction profiles may change as new research is published. ExoticRx makes no warranty, express or implied, regarding the completeness, accuracy, or currency of the information provided. The operative warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability are in the Terms of Service, which incorporate this Disclaimer.
