SAFETY AND HANDLING (BSAVA Part B p.82, verbatim): Corrosive. Wear gloves and eye protection. DRUG INTERACTIONS (BSAVA Part B p.82, verbatim): The chemical should not be used with other chemicals (other than salt), particularly reducing agents such as formalin. ACTION (BSAVA Part B p.82, verbatim): The chemical slowly decomposes in water to the hypochlorite anion to produce weak hypochlorous acid, which decomposes further to active chlorine and oxygen to provide a disinfectant effect. USE (BSAVA Part B p.82, verbatim): For the treatment of external water-borne bacterial infections, particularly bacterial gill disease, and some protozoan and trematode ectoparasites in fish.
