Mechanism of action

Synthetic androgen that suppresses estrus by inhibiting LH release from the anterior pituitary. Also has anabolic and progestational activity.

Side effects & warnings

Hepatotoxic with prolonged use. Virilization of female animals. Do NOT use in cats (hepatotoxicity), Bedlington Terriers, or pregnant animals. Discontinued but still used.
