Nymphicus hollandicus

Clinical context for cockatiel dosing
Cockatiels (Nymphicus hollandicus) are small (80–110 g) Australian psittacines whose primary pharmacology challenges are dose-volume calculation accuracy and species-specific antibiotic tolerances. Chronic egg-laying with associated hypocalcaemia drives reproductive-control pharmacology (deslorelin, leuprolide). Giardia and trichomoniasis are common protozoal indications; ronidazole has the best species-specific evidence for trichomonad infections in passerine and psittacine populations.
