Duloxetine is dosed at 1–2 mg/kg PO q24h in dogs, per KuKanich B, JVIM 2013; Veterinary pain management review. Verify against current literature before clinical use.
Potent inhibitor of both serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake. Also used for neuropathic pain management due to descending inhibitory pathway modulation.
Do not combine with MAOIs or tramadol — risk of serotonin syndrome. May cause hepatotoxicity. GI upset common. Taper to discontinue.
