Nicotinic receptor agonist causing depolarizing neuromuscular blockade in whipworms. Selective for Trichuris spp. due to poor absorption.
Usually combined with pyrantel for broader spectrum. GI upset rare. Minimal systemic absorption (acts locally in colon).
