Bio-Tal, Surital
Ultra-short-acting thiobarbiturate that enhances GABA-A receptor activity, producing rapid-onset general anesthesia. Highly lipophilic with redistribution-dependent recovery.
Perivascular injection causes severe tissue necrosis. Respiratory depression and apnea common. Sighthounds (greyhounds) have prolonged recovery due to low body fat. Largely replaced by propofol.
