Brincidofovir is dosed at 1–2 mg/kg PO Once weekly in cats, per Plumb's Veterinary Drug Handbook, 9th Ed. Verify against current literature before clinical use.
Lipid conjugate of cidofovir. Converted intracellularly to cidofovir diphosphate which inhibits viral DNA polymerase. Broad dsDNA virus activity.
GI upset (diarrhea, nausea). Less nephrotoxic than IV cidofovir. Approved for smallpox. Potential use for adenovirus, CMV. No veterinary data.
