Clinical context
Antiviral coverage is narrower than antimicrobial. Famciclovir and idoxuridine address feline herpesvirus-1 (FHV-1); acyclovir is used in psittacine herpes; interferon plays adjunct roles. Most viral infections are managed with supportive care and host-immunity support rather than direct antiviral pharmacotherapy.
