Bacterial infections (long-acting off-label)

Mechanism of Action

Long-acting cephalosporin that inhibits cell wall synthesis. Crystalline free acid formulation provides sustained release over 7-14 days from single injection.

Side effects & warnings

Long-acting — cannot reverse if adverse reaction. Injection site reactions. Used in cattle/swine but off-label in companion animals. SC injection at base of ear in cattle.
