Mechanism of action
Inhibits the CMV DNA terminase complex (pUL56), blocking viral DNA cleavage and packaging. Novel non-nucleoside mechanism.
Side effects & warnings
CYP3A4 interactions (especially with cyclosporine). GI upset. CMV-specific — no broad-spectrum activity. No veterinary data.
