Mechanism of Action

Synthetic progestational agent that suppresses estrus and gonadotropin release. Also has glucocorticoid activity and appetite-stimulating effects.

Side effects & warnings

Significant side effects: pyometra, mammary tumors, diabetes mellitus, adrenal suppression. Use only when surgical sterilization not possible. Short courses only.
