Aminocaproic Acid is dosed at 15–25 mg/kg PO q8h in dogs, per Marin LM, Iazbik MC, Zaldivar-Lopez S, et al. Inhibits fibrinolysis by blocking plasminogen activator and, to a lesser extent, antiplasmin activity. Stabilizes clots.
Used for degenerative myelopathy (German Shepherds — controversial efficacy), post-surgical hemorrhage. Thrombosis risk. GI upset. Monitor for signs of thromboembolism.
