Mechanism of action
Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs).
Side effects & warnings
CONTRAINDICATED in rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters (fatal dysbiosis). May cause GI upset. Cross-reactivity with other beta-lactams.
