Pure mineralocorticoid that replaces aldosterone function, promoting sodium retention and potassium excretion in the distal renal tubule.
Requires concurrent glucocorticoid supplementation (prednisone). Dose and interval adjusted based on electrolytes. PU/PD if overdosed.
