Irreversibly inhibits H+/K+ ATPase (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells, blocking the final step of acid production. Compounded for small animal dosing convenience.
Stability of compounded formulations varies — verify with pharmacist. Enteric coating destroyed in suspension (compensate with higher dose or bicarbonate buffer). Use within BUD.
