Alpha-2 adrenergic agonist causing sedation, analgesia, and muscle relaxation. Less ataxia than xylazine and detomidine. Primarily equine use.
Primarily equine. Bradycardia, initial hypertension then hypotension. Reversible with atipamezole. Second-degree AV block common.
