Mechanism of Action

Calcineurin inhibitor that suppresses T-cell mediated inflammation in the lacrimal gland. Increases tear production by reducing immune-mediated destruction of lacrimal tissue.

Side effects & warnings

Standard of care for canine keratoconjunctivitis sicca. May take 4-6 weeks for full effect. Transient stinging on application. Also available as 0.2% veterinary formulation (Optimmune).
