Active metabolite of sulfasalazine without the sulfa component. Topical anti-inflammatory on colonic mucosa via PPAR-gamma and NF-kB modulation.
Alternative to sulfasalazine without KCS risk. Used for colitis. Delayed-release formulation targets colon. May cause GI upset paradoxically.
