Competitive H2 receptor antagonist that reduces gastric acid secretion. Uniquely among H2 blockers, also inhibits acetylcholinesterase, providing prokinetic activity.
Dual benefit of acid reduction and prokinetic effect. Fewer drug interactions than cimetidine. Monitor hepatic/renal function.
