Amphotericin B Liposomal is dosed at 1–3 mg/kg IV q24-72h in african grey parrots, per Carpenter's Exotic Animal Formulary, 6th Ed. Verify against current literature before clinical use.
Liposomal encapsulation targets drug to fungal cells while reducing exposure to mammalian cell membranes. Binds ergosterol causing membrane disruption.
Least nephrotoxic amphotericin B formulation. Still monitor renal function. Infusion reactions less common. Preferred formulation in veterinary practice.
