Lead poisoningLead poisoning (acute)

Mechanism of Action

Chelates divalent and trivalent metal ions, particularly lead, forming stable water-soluble complexes excreted renally.

Side effects & warnings

Nephrotoxic — ensure adequate hydration and monitor renal values. Dilute before IV use. Can deplete zinc.
