Thiol compound that forms disulfide bond with cysteine producing a more soluble mixed disulfide compound. Reduces cystine stone formation.
Used for cystine urolithiasis prevention. GI upset, proteinuria. Monitor CBC and urinalysis. Better tolerated than D-penicillamine for cystinuria.
