Moxidectin is dosed at 0.5–1 mg/kg PO once in great horned owls, per Samour, Avian Medicine, 3rd Ed. (raptor formulary appendix), p.667. Row as printed binds this dose to raptors on its own line: "Moxidectin Imox tablets 1000 mg/ Raptors PO 0.5 to 1 mg/kg once For the treatment of internal and external parasites". Located by line-level extraction and then read on the page; the species binding is the row's own species column, not text proximity.. Verify against current literature before clinical use.
Binds glutamate-gated chloride channels in invertebrate nerve/muscle cells. Sustained-release formulation provides 6- or 12-month heartworm prevention.
Caution in MDR1-mutant dogs. ProHeart injection: risk of anaphylaxis (monitor 30 min post-injection). Test for heartworm before starting. Store properly.
Each ExoticRx dose rule is graded by the strength of its primary evidence — see the editorial process.
A dog/cat sample is shown here. Cited dosing for all 17 species — reptiles, birds, pocket pets, livestock, and equine — is free on the per-species pages above. Pro adds the weight-based calculator for every species.
