Analgesic
13 analgesic drugs indexed in the ExoticRx formulary. Each drug page lists species-specific dose ranges, available routes, and primary-source citations.
Clinical context
Multimodal analgesia — combining NSAIDs, opioids, NMDA antagonists, α2 agonists, and local blocks — outperforms single-agent therapy in nearly every species. Opioid receptor distributions differ in birds (κ-mediated analgesia is more prominent than μ); rabbits tolerate buprenorphine particularly well. Procedural pain is consistently underestimated in reptiles and small mammals; default to treating, not assuming absence.
